My name is Wayne T. Richards I was born on ST. Croix the largest of the United States Virgin Islands. Both of my parents are from the now-independent former United Kingdom Protectorate of St. Christopher, also known as St.kitts and Nevis. I am the eldest of my two younger sisters as we share the same parents, I have an older brother from a previous relationship on my mother’s side. I moved to New York City in the summer of 1985 before I turned 14 and that fall of the same year I was enrolled in Prospect Heights High School. I attended the 11th and 12th grade and graduated in January of 1989.
I come from an Evangelical Christian upbringing, we attended the Christiansted Assemblies of God an affiliate of the Assemblies of God the governing denomination on the island of St. Croix. When my family and I emigrated to New York we attended Calvary Pentecostal another assembly of God affiliate which my mother and my eldest brother still attend. As a child, I was active in the Royal Rangers, a Christian version of the Boys Scout. Sang in the choir and participated in open-air evangelism where we ministered the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the island on the surrounding communities. I did this as a child with my evangelist mother.
My coming to faith came about from the degradation of my moral strandings that later illicit criminal activity and subsequent prison sentences. I realized I had rolled the die one time too many and now had to pay the piper, pun intended. I had been told my whole entire life by my mother about an incident that occurred at an open-air service and the late great R.W Schambach prayed and prophesied to me that I would be a man of God. A prophetic word I ran from my whole entire life. God has a way of catching up with you by using the very seeds you have planted.
My life after incarceration has been fruitful as I decided not to let my passed experiences be the driver of my future endeavors. Upon release, I enrolled at New York Theological Seminary where I not only earned a Masters Degree in Divinity, but I served as the student body president elected as a freshman. The supernatural has always been present in my life and the goal is to share my experience my failures and triumphs. I desire more of the divine providence of the Most-High. I have learned to accept the fact that no obstacle is too high to overcome with God’s help.
I have several projects that I am currently working on. I am matriculated at New York Theological Seminary working on a Dmin as an Adam Clayton Powell Cohort. I have several books on the way all currently in various forms of completion, I have become a singer song-writer. Currently working on a screenplay titled The war of the Begotten’s, and the Life Story in a documentary format of the life George Samuels.
As I write this blog my goal is to inspire others with my life experience. No matter what you’ve been through, the cards that you’ve been dealt with there is no hurdle that one cannot overcome, It simply requires determination, ambition, guidance, tenacity and never quit attitude. One of my favorite scriptures that propels me when I feel down or my goal is not being achieved quickly or feeling a little discouraged. I dive into the scriptures for motivation, then I know I am not alone Philippians 4:13 KJV
I can do all things through Christ who strenghens me.Phillipians 4:13
It is in Jesus I live breath and get my being. If I can overcome the obstacles some I’ve created and others that have simply been my plight then I am certain we all can overcome. That is the goal of all of my blogs.
